After many years of practicing law, Melissa turned to the one comfort she could always depend on – sweets… but not just any sweet, rice crispy treats. After living in the Big Apple for 6 years, Kathleen had her share of trendy cupcakes and cookies…upon her return to LA, she realized what she had been missing all along…her mom’s homemade rice crispy treats. Mel and Kat knew it was time to make their childhood favorite available for all to enjoy.
It started with his first bite in December of 2007 – DJ AM’s exact words were “it’s the best thing I ever had!” What followed was an incredible partnership between Adam, Melissa and Kathleen. Adam was not only a partner…he was a friend. He was truly an amazing, selfless and passionate person who always wanted to help others … even two girls who wanted to make rice crispy treats. Although our business will never be the same, Adam will eternally have a special place in our hearts and will always be an inspiration to our business and to us as human beings.
Their recipe is as follows:
- 2 lbs. of best friends – 1/2 Melissa, 1/2 Kathleen
- Pour Melissa into pot. Melissa is made from marinating a Duke Law degree and many years of practice.
- Add in Kathleen and whisk. Kathleen is made from blending a business degree from USC’s Entrepreneur School with a Tablespoon of Parsons School of Design to build a successful photo album business.
- Mix in a generous Teaspoon of DJ AM and spin
- Add 3 cups of entrepreneurial spirit
- Allow ingredients to simmer over a medium flame until completely melted
- Sprinkle in TLC “tender loving care”
